Tribute to the Queen

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

We join with all members of the Commonwealth in mourning the loss of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and express our sincere condolences to the members of the Royal Family.

The longest reigning monarch in British history, the Queen’s selfless dedication to duty and service has inspired generations of people over the past 70 years.

Her Majesty visited the Showgrounds in 1954 with HRH Prince Philip the Duke of Edinburgh - just a year after her Coronation in 1953.

It was a memorable occasion and formed a highlight of her first trip to Queensland after Her Majesty acceded to the throne at age 25.

Some 33 years earlier, the prefix ‘Royal’ was added to our association’s name after it was granted the prefix under warrant from the Queen’s grandfather His Majesty King George V.

Her Majesty’s famous visit to the Showgrounds attracted huge crowds and adoration with our main arena overflowing as tens of thousands of people crammed every vantage point to capture a glimpse of the historical visit.

Tribute to the Queen

Today, those memories are warmly felt by all who were fortunate to be at the Showgrounds that day including those who were able to meet her.

We pay tribute for her remarkable legacy as an enduring symbol of stability and resilience from the post-war era to the 21st century.

We acknowledge Her Majesty for her decades of dedicated service throughout the world and her commitment to the Royal Show movement across the Commonwealth.

Sincerely

David Thomas |  President
