A Chartered Accountant by profession, Jonathan Tunny has been a member of the Brisbane business community for more than 30 years. A long association with the RNA led to his election to the RNA Council in 2001 and his subsequent appointment to Chief Executive in 2002. Since then, Jonathan has successfully steered the RNA towards a profitable and secure future by encouraging the implementation of innovative, sustainable and commercially viable initiatives across the Association’s business units. Designed to support the redevelopment and the continued operation of the RNA Showgrounds, this new business model will also ensure that the Ekka is able to continue to grow and develop as Queensland’s largest event. | | | | |  | | Brendan Christou BBus QUT CPA MBA Curtin Chief Operating Officer
Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) Brendan Christou commenced at the RNA in March 2004 as the organisation's Financial Controller. His role has evolved considerably since then, with increased responsibility seeing him promoted to Corporate Services Manager in 2008 and most recently to Chief Operating Officer in 2009. Brendan's previous experience spans across the retail, engineering and financial services industries. He completed his Master of Business Administration from Curtin University in 2008. | | | | |  | | Angela Mulcahy GradDipMktg AIM Manager – Marketing, Sales and Sponsorship Angela began with the RNA in January 2009 bringing with her nearly 20 years experience in marketing roles. Angela’s experience encompasses a broad spectrum of expertise across not-for-profit, radio, property marketing and retail industries. Previously she has worked for Knight Frank and Colonial First State Property Management. Her knowledge and experience in business-to business and business-to-customer marketing and sales assimilates well with this multi-task role. | | | | |  | | Don Savage Assoc.Dip.E&C SBIT TVOCP Manager – Royal Queensland Show Leasing Don Savage joined the RNA team in early 2006 after an extensive career spanning 40 years with Network Ten in Brisbane. During this time he managed the network’s broadcast on-air operation; was Chief Engineer for almost ten years; and Ten’s Pavilion Manager for the duration of World Expo 88 at South Bank. | | | | |  | | Garry Ashby BEd Studies JCU DipT NBCAE DipHor JCU Manager – Event Production As manager of the RNA’s Event Production team, Garry Ashby oversees all event coordination, creation and packaging taking place on the RNA Showgrounds. He also manages all car parking on the grounds throughout the year. Garry joined the RNA management team in 2004 after nine years in a similar role at the Cairns Show Association and nine years as Treasurer and Director of the Queensland Chamber of Agricultural Societies. | | | | |  | | Laura Dodd GradDip HR Monash Manager – Organisational Development
Laura Dodd joined the RNA team in February 2008, bringing with her experience from a number of significant companies including The Just Group and Channel Four Television (UK). Laura's responsibility is to provide total organisational development support to the RNA and its employees, including succession planning, training and development, recruitment and industrial relations. Laura is currently completing her Master in Organisational Leadership through Monash University. | | | | |  | | Martin Cichero B.Surv. UQ Grad.Cert(Facility Management) QUT JP Qual Manager – Facility Martin joined the RNA in July 2009 as Facility Manager, coordinating the Association’s building, cleaning, maintenance and landscaping services while overseeing the RNA’s 22 full-time facility staff, who combine to maintain the Association’s assets and provide support services to all events. His previous experience includes positions in Survey and Development consultancy companies and the Department of Natural Resources. Martin has spent over a decade maintaining and operating infrastructure for two of Australia’s largest residential communities, Sanctuary Cove and Hope Island Resort. | | | | |  | | Steven Grimes BE Qld Project Director Steven Grimes joined the RNA in September 2009 to oversee the Association’s role with its project partner, Lend Lease Development, in the delivery of the $3 billion redevelopment of the RNA Showgrounds. Steven brings with him over 22 years professional experience in Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States delivering award winning, large scale, mixed use developments. Previous positions include Team Leader for Lend Lease Water Alliance on the Gold Coast, Development Operations Manager and Project Director for Actus Lend Lease in the United States. | | | | |
